Let’s talk about income and sales goals. More specifically what to do when you don’t hit them. Not hitting a sales goal can do a number on it. We set a goal and when we don’t achieve it, sometimes it can completely derail us. I totally have been there.
I want to share with you what happened to me in July 2021 and I hope to inspire and motivate you. A few episodes back, I shared with you how I doubled my income in 30 days, then I was all starry-eyed and I made another episode on how I was going to double my income. Again. I was so confident that it was going to happen.
I felt so prepared. It was going to happen and everything felt great. Right? Well, it might come as a surprise to you that I actually didn’t hit my income and sales goal at that time. I did not double my income again, after doubling it the previous month, I made the exact same amount as what I made in June of 2021.
I’m a natural-born go-getter. And so when I don’t hit my goals, I take it personally.
I always asked why, and more importantly, why it actually didn’t happen, but what I really didn’t realize at the time is that I actually wasn’t ready.
My business wasn’t ready.
I started looking at my business and questioning, “Why didn’t I hit this goal?” and what I found out shocked me.
The Importance of Delivery and Sales Tasks in your business
I preach all day long, how delivery and sales tasks are the most important things that you need to be doing in your business.
If you want it to grow, you need to be focusing on delivering what you promised in your programs. You have to make time in your business to deliver on the promise that you offer.
If you’re creating a course, then that means you need to be sure that you are available to answer Facebook group questions, or you need to outsource it by either creating an FAQ portal inside of your course or hiring a VA to answer the questions that you. If you’re offering a group program, you need to make sure you have time to deliver the coaching elements of your program.
Aside from delivery, you need to take ample time in your schedule to focus on growing your sales.
For me, that’s optimizing my sales funnel. For you, that might be implementing a sales funnel and then optimizing and growing and scaling a sales funnel. Then having time set aside for research and development, learning and seeking support and all of those things, these are the things that will make your business actually grow.
Are you actually READY to hit that sales goal?
Now here’s the thing. When you don’t hit your goal, it’s not the time to give up. It’s not the time to say, “This level of income is not for me. I’m never going to hit it. I’m never going to get there. It’s just never going to work.”

Look at your business. Be the CEO that looks at their business and analyzes, “I’m I actually ready to hit the income goal that I want.”
You might say yes, I’m ready. But what would happen if you have that volume right here right now?
Would you be able to handle it?
- Is my business running the same way it always has?
- I’m I doing the same sales tasks?
- I’m I doing any sales tasks at all and wondering why my income isn’t growing for me?
Here’s why I didn’t hit my sales goal
I didn’t hit my income goal because I actually wasn’t supported enough.
I cannot imagine what would have happened because I wasn’t supported enough in order to RECIEVE that level of income.
I was expecting to do it all exactly just the way that I’ve done. And I became blind to the fact that had I doubled my income again, I was creating a recipe for burnout.
I would have celebrated my income goal, but I would have been a burnt-out hot mess.
For you, this might look different. You might not have a sales funnel in place yet, and you might not have something that gives you limitless income at the turn of a button as I do.
Right now you might be really wanting some sort of income goal or sales goal, and you just don’t know how to get there. If we want to reach our income goals, we have to make the changes necessary in order to make those things happen.
You want to make more money in your online business, but you work a full-time job. Something’s got to give. Something has to change. Can you take some vacation days to hustle and get your funnel up and running? Or can you devote one hour every night to work on your business? Or can you work through the nap time hustle? I did this. I built my online business with four children at my feet.
How To Prepare For Your Next Sales Goal
We hit our income goals exactly when we’re ready to hit them.
If you feel like you can’t hit your income goals and you’re discouraged, it’s not the time to give up. It’s time to stand up. And say, I’m going to make a change.
Seek a support system
You are stuck in a hamster wheel of client work or service-based work or your job. You never have that time to work on the growth tasks.
When I analyzed my business, I realized I needed to hire an assistant coach to help me fully support my Accelerator members. I needed to hire someone to help me when my income doubled again. And I would have double the amount of students that I had the month before.
As a result, I’m on track to make more than what I wanted to make in July.
Seek what is the bottle-neck in your business
Become the CEO and make the changes that you need to make because no one is going to do it for you.
Look at your business this month and say, okay, where is the bottleneck?
Am I the bottleneck?
In my case, I was the bottleneck, but maybe your sales are the bottleneck. You don’t have a good sales system in place. Maybe you don’t have the traffic source.
Sit down with a piece of paper and start writing down all the things that you do in your business, the ways you spend your time and how your business actually makes money.
Where did you make money this month? And where did those sales come from? How did they come? Is that sales strategy right?
That sales funnel. Is it sustainable? Is it going to help you hit your goals? And if it isn’t because it’s non-existent, you need to build one.

I believe that you can hit any freaking goal that you want to. I just believe that we have to be a CEO and take control of our business to make it happen.
